Go in this might! (31 July 2019)

Asking questions expresses inner longing. People ask questions like ‘why?’ or ‘why not’? These reflective questions cross our minds quite often. However, very few ponder and act on those questions or thoughts. Gideon was one such person who had so many questions. When the ‘Angel of the Lord’ appeared, he triggered a machine gun of questions.
And Gideon said to him, “Please, my lord, if the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all his wonderful deeds that our fathers recounted to us, saying, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has forsaken us and given us into the hand of Midian.” And the Lordturned to him and said, “Go in this might of yours and save Israel from the hand of Midian; do not I send you?” (Judges 6:13,14)
Gideon asked good relevant and important questions, but God did not answer. His questions were: What happened? Where are you? Why have you forsaken us? God is Sovereign, and he need not answer ‘childish questions.
Gideon was preoccupied with Past and Present. In his paradigm, future was bleak or sorrowful or without hope. God’s paradigm is ‘future-oriented’ and viewed from Eternal perspective. Lord wanted Gideon to become his instrument to repeat similar things God had done in the past.
Many time God allows to be Puzzled, Perturbed and Panic. Instead Lord wants us to see Him in Awe and be available to Him. When we are available, Lord can use us as His instruments to shape the future. Are you standing in Present, nostalgic about Past, God wants to move into Future in Faith?
